Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Children are invited to come dressed in their pajamas, bring their favorite plush pal and listen to bedtime stories The plush pals will spend two nights exploring the Library! Children will pick their animals up on Friday, August 1 along with a picture of the animals' night-time adventures.

Computer Programing with Scratch and PicoBoards

Workshop participants will learn how to create animations, computer games, and interactive projects using Scratch, a graphical programming language. Attendees will be introduced to fundamental programming concepts and learn how to integrate sensors into their Scratch projects. This workshop targets the “A-ha! moment” of DIY electronics and computer programming. This is a drop-off event. No adults, please.

Moon Over Higland Park

Join us for an all-ages event presented by the Lake County Astronomical Society. LCAS volunteers will bring sophisticated telescopes to allow viewing of the moon and other objects in the sky. You are welcome to view at any time and stay as long as you want. Kids will receive glow bracelets and astronomy stickers. There will also be a kid friendly telescope.

If August 4th if rainy or cloudy, we will attempt to hold the event on August 5th. If the weather is still bad, we will cancel the event.

Summer Baby Booktime

Newborns to walkers with parent or caregiver.
Introduce your baby to the sounds and rhythms of language using stories, music, and rhymes. Delight and stimulate your baby's senses and build a foundation for a lifelong love of books and reading. Each class will end with 1/2 hour of play featuring age-appropriate toys and time for socialization.

Summer Storytime Live!

For ages 3 to 6.
Drop off your independent preschoolers or kindergartners for a special storytime! Let them enjoy great stories, puppets, flannel boards, music, and activities that foster pre-reading skills, broaden social skills, and encourage a love of books.
