Moon Over Highland Park

Thursday, August 20, 2015 - 7:30pm to 9:00pm

Join us for an all-ages event presented by the Lake County Astronomical Society. LCAS volunteers will bring sophisticated telescopes to allow viewing of the moon and other objects in the sky. You are welcome to view at any time and stay as long as you want. Kids will receive glow bracelets and astronomy stickers. There will also be a kid friendly telescope.

If the weather is cloudy or raining we will cancel the event. If in doubt, call Youth Services at 847-681-7030.

Summer First Steps

For walking toddlers to 2 1/2 year olds with parent or caregiver.
Enjoy an interactive storytime with picture books, songs, fingerplays, puppets, and parachute play. Nurture your toddler's love of books and encourage him or her to learn numbers, colors, sounds, and new words. Each class will end with 1/2 hour of play and time to meet other parents, caregivers, and toddlers.

Spanish Literary Club

Attendees will take part in lively discussions on Spanish literature, focusing on the works of notable authors. Conversations will be mostly in Spanish, but non-native speakers are welcome. Currently reading "Diez Mujeres" by Marcela Serrano.

HPPL Young Hackers Collective

Looking for a fun way to learn about 3D printing, computer programming, robotics, creating mobile apps, gaming, and more? HPPL Young Hackers Collective is a program designed to encourage curiosity and enthusiasm for STEAM learning. Students in grades 5-8 are invited to explore the limits of what is possible.

Meet up at Panera in Highland Park (1853 N. 2nd St.) for a special story time, milk and cookies. Children ages 2-5, parents and caregivers are invited the 4th Tuesday of the month. Registration for children is required.
