Morris discusses her novel, a sweeping Chicago epic that captures the atmosphere and music of the Jazz Age. It’s a tale of family, race, gangsters, disaster, love, betrayal, and, of course, jazz. Books will be for sale and the event will conclude with a book signing. A jazz combo from Highland Park High School will perform before and after the event.

Doug Stiles, from the Waukegan Historical Society, discusses Lincoln’s watch that was brought to a jeweler in Washington D.C., and answers the question as to if an inscription was added. Stiles is a descendant of the jeweler. Actor Colm Egan then reads excerpts from letters written by Highland Park city clerk John Finney during the Civil War.

Meet The Author - Jennifer Teege.
What would you do if you found out your grandfather was responsible for the brutal murders of thousands of people? How would your life, your sense of self, change? That is the reality Jennifer Teege, a German-Nigerian woman, faced when she learned that her grandfather was Amon Goeth, the vicious Nazi commandant depicted by Ralph Fiennes in "Schnidler’s List." She realized that because of her black skin, her grandfather would have shot her, as well. Teege discusses her bestselling book, "My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me: A Black Woman Discovers Her Family's Nazi Past," available now for the first time in English. Books will be for sale and the event will conclude with a book signing.
