Fall 2009 - No Impact Man

No Impact Man details author Colin Beavan's decision to go off the grid for one year - while still living in New York City - to see if it's possible to make no net impact on the environment. For Beavan this meant no trash, no elevators, no subway, no television, no non-local food and other lifestyle changes.

What would it be like to live a no-impact lifestyle?
Is it possible?
Could it catch on?
Is living this way more satisfying or less satisfying?
These are the questions Beavan hoped to answer through his yearlong experiment.
