Youth Programs


All Youth Services programs are FREE of charge, however tickets or advance registration may be required.

ticket procedures

Free tickets for performances will be available at the Youth Services Desk one week before the program. Tickets must be picked up in person and may not be held for pick-up. Tickets are limited to residents of Highland Park and residents of the North Shore School District 112 service area. There is a limit of four tickets per family. To allow as many children as possible to attend our performances, please limit adults to one per family group.

If you have special signing or access needs, please notify the Youth Services staff one week in advance of the program date.

All performances are held in the Auditorium unless otherwise noted.

Advance registration is required for all workshops. Free registration by phone or in person begins at least one week before the workshop. Call Youth Services at (847) 681-7030 or stop by the Youth Services Desk.  Workshops are limited to Highland Park residents or residents of the North Shore School District 112 service area.  You may register your child only.

drop-in events

Tickets, registration, and Highland Park residency are not required for drop-in events.

An Instrument Petting Zoo
with The Music Arts School of Highland Park


Instructors from The Music Arts School of Highland Park will introduce and demonstrate their instruments. Everyone will have an opportunity to talk to the musicians and try out instruments donated for the day by Highland Park’s Field Violin Workshop and the Music Arts School. This program will include string, percussion, guitar/bass and wind instruments.

No tickets or registration required for this free drop-in event.

The Bucket Boys

The Bucket Boys are back and, yes, we have them for two shows this time!! They’re the hip-hop percussive duo that combines music, laughter, and audience participation. Vince Romanelli and Mitch Martin use a medley of junk from wrecking yards, trash bins, basements, and attics to create riveting music. Loud, but fun!

The Magic Onion
presented by Mark Nichols' Puppet Place

Blend a beautiful princess and her faithful dog, a wicked magician and his magic onion, a handsome prince, a hungry dragon, and a castle in an enchanted blue forest, and you have what looks like a typical fairy tale, but Mark Nichols' Puppet Place adds hilarious twists to the plot that throw all stereotypes to the wind. Music and songs add spice to their longest-running and most popular show. The Magic Onion will make you laugh until you cry!
