Pastor Donald Gay sings Gospel at the Library

This Saturday, November 4, at 2 p.m., Donald Gay will perform a program of Gospel music. He is pastor at the Prayer Center Church of God in Christ on Chicago’s south side. Gay will perform with Cliff Dubose and Lavelle Lacy on keyboard. The event will take place in the Adult Services Room on the main floor of the Library.

As a child, Donald Gay often performed with his sisters, Evelyn, Geraldine, and Mildred, who were well known as the Gay Sisters Trio. At the invitation of Mahalia Jackson, the Gay Sisters Trio, with younger brother Donald, appeared  at the first gospel concert in Carnegie Hall in New York. Gay recorded with his sisters for Rush, Hummingbird, and Chess Records. The three artists have also recorded for The Sirens Records.
