Bob Coscarelli, professor emeritus College of Lake County, introduces the last in the series "Magical Realism in Film," featuring Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge. A discussion will follow the showing. Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium. Click here for more information.
The Film & Music Department is excited to announce a new podcast series! Each episode will feature interviews with performers from upcoming library events.
Pan's Labyrinth (2006) was nominated for Best Foreign Film in 2007. Bob Coscarelli will introduce the film and lead a discussion after the showing. Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium.
Moonlight (2016) won the Oscar for Best Picture this year in a ceremony that will be remembered for years to come. Dick Adler will lead a discussion on Wednesday, March 22, at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium.
Listen to talented young musicians from Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, a pre-college music school, perform works for wind instruments. The concert will take place on Sunday, March 5, at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium.
Join us on Saturday, February 18, at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium for a spicy mix of Latin, Spanish, Balkan, and classical sounds. Black Oak Ensemble was founded by three multi-award-winning, globe-trotting virtuosi: Goran Ivanovic on guitar, Desirée Ruhstrat on violin, and David Cunliffe on cello. The library’s subscription to Freegal Music will be discontinued on December 16, 2016. Patrons will have access to digital music albums through hoopla and to physical music albums through our large music CD collection, which consists of over 10,000 CDs. Patrons may also access Music Online, which allows unlimited streaming from a broad range of collections and genres.
