The painters add more color to the Inger Boye Children's Room
Youth Renovation 2005
The painters gave the soffits in the Inger Boye Children's Room a coat of lively gold paint.
Meanwhile in the Youth Services Department things looked quite different. Furniture was moved out of the way of the painters and carpet layers, a lot of the old carpet was pulled up and the walls were getting patched and prepped for painting.
There were carts with some picture books, jp fiction and non-fiction, and Spanish books in the center of the front hall. There are also three big bins of board books. As for the books that were still in our room, when construction permited, the staff went back into the Youth Services Department to retrieve them for patrons.
The Youth Services Department moved out to the front hallway on November 28, 2005. Some of our collections came with us. The Book Match books and New J and JY Fiction books moved to the left of the Library front doors as did the current issues of our magazines and some back issues. Some of our most popular videos, DVDs, and music CDs were put on carts in the Adult AV Room.
The electricians put in lines for our new computer catalog stations and display cabinets as well as installing the track lights on the ceiling of the hallway. This work was harder than it sounds because, like most old buildings, The Library had some surprises in store. Original exterior stone walls, now hidden in interior walls, and extra thick concrete floors were just two problems that the electricians had to work around.
