Robotics: Lego Mindstorms

Monday, August 7, 2017 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Join us for a hands-on program using Lego Mindstorms, which is a robotics kit that allows you to program and command a Lego robot. Its graphical programming environment makes program design easy and fun. We will be using a base Lego robot to program specific commands and solve challenges. Ages 9-14

Read It! Watch It! Book Club - Holes

Wednesday, August 9, 2017 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

In this new book club, compare Louis Sachars's Newbery Medal winning book "Holes" to the feature film! Read the book prior to the film screening at the library on Wednesday, August 9, if you haven't already done so. After the movie, we will discuss the similarities and differences, favorite parts and scenes, what worked and what didn't. Online registration required. Refreshments will be served.
This is a drop-off/kids-only program. Adult should return for pickup at 8:15 p.m.

Summer Baby Booktime

Friday, August 11, 2017 - 10:30am to 11:30am

Newborns to walkers with parent or caregiver.
Introduce your baby to the sounds and rhythms of language using stories, music, and rhymes. Delight and stimulate your baby's senses and build a foundation for a lifelong love of books and reading. Each class will end with 1/2 hour of play featuring age-appropriate toys and time for socialization. Registration required.

Saturday, August 12, 2017 - 10:30am to 12:00pm

Join us any time during the session. Play an assortment of Library board, card, and party games (chess included). Bring friends or make some while you're here. For ages 7-14. If you can't make it to the Drop-In come check out a game at the Youth Services Desk whenever the Library is open.

For walking toddlers to 2 1/2 year olds with parent or caregiver.
Enjoy an interactive storytime with picture books, songs, fingerplays, puppets, and parachute play. Nurture your toddler's love of books and encourage him or her to learn numbers, colors, sounds, and new words. Each class will end with 1/2 hour of play and time to meet other parents, caregivers, and toddlers. Registration required.
