Information & Reader Services Librarian - Part-Time

If you’re an enthusiastic readers’ advisor who also enjoys research, then we have the perfect job for you!

Duties: Provide research assistance and readers’ advisory, develop programs and collections, create displays and reading lists, write blog posts, and provide e-resource assistance and instruction for adults.

Requires: MLS, knowledge of contemporary and classic literature, information resources, and downloading and related e-resource technologies.  Excellent communication skills. Bilingual Spanish/English is desirable.   

Schedule: Part-time, 20 hour workweek, including evening and weekend hours. This is a year-round position.

Salary: $22.20+ per hour, DOQ. Includes retirement, vacation, and sick time benefits.

Youth Services Librarian - Part-Time

The Youth Services Department is seeking a creative, energetic, and fun librarian with a strong commitment to public service to join our collaborative and lively team.
Duties: Providing friendly reader’s advisory and reference assistance for children and their caregivers, including assistance with digital media and technology; planning in-house library programs and events including storytimes and summer reading programs; collection development; other duties as assigned.
Requires:
ALA accredited MLS
Min. 2 years professional experience working with children
Knowledge of children’s literature, print and electronic resources
Knowledge of child development
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of web technologies and Microsoft Office suite

Part-time (20 hours/week) including weekend and evening shifts

$24.00 per hour, DOQ. Compensation includes paid vacation, sick leave and retirement benefits.

Library Page - Part Time

Do you like to keep things organized? Do you like to know where everything is? Then being a Membership Services Page at the Highland Park Public Library might be just the job for you! No day is exactly the same – different materials, different people – but the skill set remains the same.
Duties: Shelve, sort and shift library materials (print and non-print) onto shelves or display units, and shelf-read materials – arranging books and other materials in correct order on the shelves. Shift materials so that materials remain accessible, attractive and orderly. Empty book bins or other returned materials receptacles and desensitize specified materials.
Requires: Ability to sort materials alphabetically and in a Dewey Decimal sequence, familiarity with computer operations, ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to remain focused and disciplined in detailed orientated work. Requires visual discrimination and the ability to read spine labels, the ability to follow oral and written instructions, and the ability to interact and communicate with people of all ages. Must be available for open shifts. 
Schedule: Hours include evening and weekend shifts.  This is a year-round 12 hour per week position.
Salary: ​​​​​​​$9.00 per hour, depending upon qualifications.
