Meet The Author.  Eric Vuillard makes a special appearance at the Library to discuss his book, the winner of the 2017 Prix Goncourt, The Order of the Day.  The Prix Goncourt is France's most prestigious literary prize.  The Order of the Day is a historical novel about shady business dealings behind the Nazi annexation of Austria in 1938. Through letters, historical documents, and photographs, Vuillard reconstructs the sequence of events that opened a gateway to one of the greatest humanitarian horrors in history. The book opens with a friendly meeting in 1933 between Hitler and 24 major figures in German industry and finance, including brands like Bayer and Allianz that are familiar today. Mr. Vuillard, a filmmaker and author of several previous novels, said that he had been inspired by Montesquieu’s warning that the concentration of power and money in the hands of a few was “dangerous for everybody.”

Books will be for sale and the event will conclude with a book signing.
